IQNA – The 19th edition of the international Holy Quran competition of Algeria concluded on Friday.

Closing ceremony of Algeria's 19th international Quran contest

 

Winners of the Quranic contest were named and awarded at the closing ceremony, al-Wasat reported.

The panel of judges introduced 23-year-old Ahmed al-Alam from Libya as the top winner of the competition.

Yusuf Abdul Rahman from the host country was named the runner up and Ahmad al-Bashir from Bangladesh came third.

The members of the panel of judges, including Taqi al-Deen from Palestine and Sheikh Islam bin Fouzi Dashkin from Russia were also honored at the closing ceremony, which was attended by a number of senior Algerian political and religious officials.

The international Quran competition of Algeria is annually organized by the country’s Awqaf and religious affairs ministry.

The age limit for the contenders is 25. The participants compete in the category of memorization of the entire Quran along with observation of the rules of Tajweed.
