Quran Manuscripts Expo Launched at Moscow Museum
The Quran manuscripts have Tazhib (illumination) designs and Quranic calligraphy.
The expos were launched in a ceremony last week, attended by Iranian Cultural Attaché to Russia Masoud Ahmadvand, Damir Mukhetdinov, the deputy of Russia’s Council of Muftis and head of Moscow Islamic University, and president of the museum Alexander Sedov.
In his address, Sedov described hosting two simultaneous exhibitions featuring Iranian and Islamic art as a very important event for the museum.
“We are very happy and honored to introduce the history of Iran and Islam to visitors (to these expos),” he added.
Mukhetdinov also addressed the opening ceremony, hailing the organization of the exhibitions.
He said that as a cleric, he would welcome any move aimed at introducing Quranic and Islamic arts and helping people learn more about the rich Islamic culture.

In his speech, Ahmadvand said the works and data-x-items showcased at the two expos signify the unique art of Iranians and their devotion to the Holy Book.
He noted that copies of the books Panj Ganj of Nizami and Golestan of Saadi calligraphed by renowned Iranian calligraphers like Sultan Ali Mashhadi and Mir Ali Hosseini are among the data-x-items on display.
The two exhibitions will run at the museum for two months until March 25.
The State Museum of Oriental Art in Moscow is one of the biggest cultural institutions in the world for preservation, research, and display of Oriental art.
It was founded in 1918 as a part of soviet program to support unique cultures of USSR subdivisions.
The museum has galleries for the art and archaeology of India, Persia (Iran), China, Japan, Buryatia, Transcaucasia, and Chukchi Peninsula.
