IQNA – A chilling letter that threatened to kill everyone at an Islamic primary school in Ilford, east London, has sparked a police investigation.

The letter, which was sent to the Apex Primary School, contained Islamophobic and abusive language and warned of a "surprise" at 9 am on Friday, December 8.

The letter also mocked the deaths of Palestinians in Gaza and called the school staff "pedophiles". It was signed by "Your terrorist friend", The Mirror reported on Thursday.

The headteacher of the school, Ms Meherun Hamid, informed the parents of the letter and the "direct threats against the school and our children."

She said that the school had contacted the Metropolitan Police, who had assured them of increased security measures and patrols around the school.

She also said that the school was "committed to maintaining a secure environment" and asked the parents to "remain vigilant". She told the parents that they could choose not to send their children to school on Friday due to the risks.

The Metropolitan Police confirmed that they were investigating the letter and trying to identify the sender. They said that they had searched the school and found nothing suspicious. They also said that there had been no arrests.

The letter was received on the same day that the East London Mosque, the largest mosque in London, was evacuated after a threatening email.

The police said that the email was a "credible threat" and that they had searched the mosque and found nothing suspicious. The incident was later resolved and the mosque was reopened. The police said that they were conducting further inquiries.

According to the Muslim Council of Britain, there has been a 140% increase in Islamophobic incidents in London alone since the start of the war in Gaza in early October.
