Quran Center in Sydney to Hold Special Programs on Qadr Nights

TEHRAN (IQNA) – Samen Al-Aeme Imam Reza Quran Academy in Sydney, Australia, is set to host special programs to mark Qadr nights this year.

Persian and English lectures will be delievered in the ceremonies, according to a poster published online.

Dr. Sheikh Yahya Jahangiri is slated to deliver lectures during the blessed nights.

The programs are set to be held on April 10, 12, and 14 at the center located at Silverwater.

The Night of Qadr (Lailatul-Qadr) has been hailed as the most important hours of the holy month of Ramadan as it is superior to a thousand months.

Lailatul Qadr means the night of honor and dignity. It is this night in which the first Divine Revelation came to the heart of the Holy Prophet of Islam (PBUH).

This is the most blessed night of the year and a time of forgiveness of sins. On this night, the angels descend to earth and the destiny of everyone is determined. “On this Night, the angels and the spirit descend by the permission of their Lord with His decree (to determine everyone's destiny). Peace it is, till the break of dawn.” (Surah Al-Qadr, verses 4-5)

The Night of Qadr is in the month of Ramadan for sure but the exact day is not known. The nights of the 19^th, 21^st, 23^rd and 27^th days of Ramadan have been mentioned as the likely ones, with more emphasis put on the 23^rd and 27^th. The faithful have been urged to stay awake on these nights and say prayers and recite supplications until dawn. Also, mourning the martyrdom of Imam Ali (AS) is among the rituals of the Night of Qadr. The 21^st day of Ramadan is the martyrdom anniversary of the first Imam (AS).
