Speaking to IQNA on Friday, Hojat-ol-Islam Mohammad Hassan Aboutorabi Fard hailed the performance of Hajj pilgrimage by Muslims from different ethnic backgrounds.
“One of the important symbols of Hajj is building a society that humans from different ethnicities and nations from across the world gather in a secure place based on common divine and human values and perform a religious, political and social ritual in full coordination,” he said.
Naming the Hajj pilgrimage as an opportunity to further promote Islam, he said that the duty of elites and scholars is to explain the lofty concepts of Hajj to the world and by doing so, confront Islamophobic measures of Western and Zionist media that allocate budgets for drawing a dark image of Islam.
Hajj pilgrimage is one of the pillars of Islam that Muslims who have the means should perform at least once in their lives. Muslims typically save for years to take part in the event.
The Hajj consists of a series of religious rites that are completed over five days in Islam’s holiest city, Mecca, and surrounding areas of western Saudi Arabia.
