The PMU, also known as Hashd al-Shaabi said its forces have been deployed in different parts of the city as well as elsewhere in Najaf Governorate and nearby areas to ensure security, Mawazin News reported.
The PMU’s Second Brigade is in Najaf working with security organizations, it added.
A large number of pilgrims visited the holy shrine of Imam Ali (AS) in Najaf on Saturday night, the Night of Qadr.
More pilgrims are expected to visit the mausoleum on Monday and Tuesday.
Tuesday is the 21st day of the holy month of Ramadan, which marks the martyrdom anniversary of the first Shia Imam (AS).
