TEHRAN (IQNA) – Western media try to spread an unreal and violent image of Islam by focusing on the crimes committed by Takfiri terrorist groups.

This is according to Emad Abshenas, representative of Russian news agency Rossiya Segodnya in Tehran, who stressed that confronting the West’s attempts to portray Islam and Muslims as violent is necessary.
He made the remarks speaking to IQNA at the 21st International Press and News Agencies Exhibition in Tehran.
Abshenas further said that Rossiya Segodnya tries to cover news based on realities.
One of the approaches of the Russian news agency is combatting Islamophobia and Iranophobia, he stated.

It incorporates the former RIA Novosti news service and the Sputnik multimedia platform.
