Closing Ceremony of Al-Mustafa Int’l Quran and Hadith Olympiad in Afghanistan

The closing ceremony of the 17th edition of international Quran and Hadith Olympiad of Al-Mustafa International University was held in Kabul, Afghanistan.
According to IQNA’s branch in the holy city of Qom, the ceremony was attended by over 500 Quran activists, scholars, clerics, parliament members and seminary students at Resalat School in the capital city.
Mohammad Ali Khosrawi, the second top winner of the recitation category of the contest, recited some verses of the Holy Quran at the beginning of the program.
Out of 770 participants participated in the event, some 160 were selected as the top winners and 70 male and female participants in 13 written and oral categories were awarded at the closing ceremony.
Addressing the ceremony, Abdulshakur Fallah, organizer of the program, said that: “Compared to the previous edition of the contest held in 40 countries, this edition was warmly welcomed in Afghanistan and more students participated in this edition.”
Also speaking at the program, Hussein Asadi, director general of Quran and Hadith of the university said that now Afghanistan is the cradle of Quran and one can hear Quran’s verses recited in every corner of the country.
Saber Husseini Yaqut, who calligraphed world's largest hand-made copy of the Holy Quran in Afghanistan, was also awarded at the ceremony.
This copy of holy Quran which is said to be the world’s largest has taken 5 years for completion and has a length of 230 cm and width of 150 cm.
