Necessity of Ijtihad and Emulation Discussed in India

A seminar on the necessity of Ijtihad and emulation was held on March 31 in Lucknow district of Uttar Pradesh State of India.
According to IQNA’s branch in South Asia, the program was organized by the Islamic University of India aiming to disseminate the issue of emulation in the country.
It was held with the presence of religious scholars and intellectuals such as Seyyed Nezamuddin from Hyderabad, Ali Ahmad from Jeddah and Seyyed Salman Husseini from Lucknow.
Ijtihad and its basic qualifications, Ijtihad in India, Islamic jurisprudence, current issues and today’s needs concerning Ijtihad as well as the duties of seminary students and clerics were among the themes investigated at the seminar.
