A book titled “Islam and the West: the limits of freedom of religion” by Hana Sadik El-Gallal has been published in English.

According to Al-Bawaba website, the contents of the book were discussed in a forum organized by the Jordanian Writers Association and Arab Thought Foundation.

It was attended by Fayez Khasawana, member of the foundation, Al-Sadiq Al-Faqih, secretary general of the foundation and a number of academic figures, researchers and intellectuals of the country.
Addressing the forum, Khasawana said that the book has introduced important aspects of Islam to the West, regretting that a wrong image of the religion has been presented to the people in the West by the media and others.
Al-Faqih also said that the Libyan author attempts to find reasons for the rise of religious intolerance.
The book is asking questions such as How do societies deal with different religions and beliefs? How could and do they find ways of reconciling their conflicting demands while protecting human worth? How can universal values be found and established?
The 340-page book was published by Peter Lang Publishing Group.
“The Right to Freedom of Thought, Conscience, and Religion”, “Limits of Muslims’ Freedom of Religion in the West” and “Limits of Freedom of Religion or Belief in Arab States” are among the themes of the book.
