Mecca Imam Unable to Continue Friday Prayer Due to Fatigue (+Video)

MECCA (IQNA) – One of the imams of the Grand Mosque in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, had to stop leading the prayer on Friday after he fell ill.

Maher al-Muaiqly, a famous reciter of the Quran, lost his voice in the middle of the prayer, which was broadcast live on national TV.

He was replaced by another imam, Abdul Rahman al-Sudais, who continued the prayer without interruption.

The Grand Mosque's religious authority said that Muaiqly was suffering from "fatigue and exhaustion" and could not finish the prayer. They assured that he was now feeling better.

According to a local news source, Muaiqly's blood pressure dropped due to the high temperature in Mecca, which reached 44C around 1pm, when the prayer took place.
