A total of 571 Quran learners, including 149 women, received their gradation certificates at the Friday event, tr.agency website reported.
They have all learned the entire Holy Book by heart, taking courses organized under the supervision of the province’s Dar al-Ifta.
Addressing the ceremony, which was attended by the memorizers, their teachers and family members, the deputy head of Turkey’s Presidency of Religious Affairs (Diyanet) said serving the Quran is serving humanity, peace and morality.
He added that those who memorize the Quran play a major role in promoting the Arabic language in the country.
The official also underlined the need for acting upon the teachings of the Holy Book in addition to memorizing it.
