Called the Matruh Quran Contest, it will run in the Matruh governorate of Egypt until Sunday, according to al-Watan News.
Some 500 girl and boy students compete in two separate sections for the top prizes.
The categories of the event include memorization of the entire Quran and memorization of three-fourth, half and a quarter of the Holy Book.
The Musli Youth Association of the governorate has organized the contest in cooperation with the governor’s office and Awaf department.
It is aimed at promoting memorization of the Quran and contemplating its concepts.
