Quran Contest for Visually Impaired Students Underway in Yemen

TEHRAN (IQNA) - The 6th edition of a Quran contest for visually impaired students in Yemen started on December 14 in Sana’a, the capital city.


According to sabanews.net, a group of Quran experts including Yahya Al-Halili, Abdullah Al-Hada and Abdullah al-Qalaq supervise the contest.

Addressing the opening ceremony of the Quranic event, Amin Jam’an, deputy of Sana’a Municipality and secretary general of its local council, said that the municipality will continue its support for the disabled group of the society in general, and the visually impaired in particular, cooperating to provide the group with social services and charity affairs.

Also speaking at the ceremony, were Hadi Al-Sarabi, secretary general of the Committee for The Visually Impaired, and Mohammad Al-Fadhli, director of Education and Training Office of the municipality, appreciated the efforts of the committee’s members to organize such Quranic programs.

As the last speaker at the ceremony, Abdullah Bonyan, deputy of the Disabled People's Organizations in Yemen, said that the committee was founded in 1989 to serve the visually impaired and it is a member of the Asian Blind Union.

The Quran contest will continue until December 18.
