Ali Amini, the Iranian child prodigy who has learned the entire Holy Quran by heart, was honored at the closing ceremony of the Ayat Quranic Festivals.
Ali, who is only ten years old, studies in the sixth grade of elementary school. He says he started learning the Quran by heart at the age of 6, encouraged by his parents.
“As there is a Quranic atmosphere in our home, my father and mother both being Islamic seminary students, I got interested in memorizing the Quran.
“At first I memorized a small part of the Quran, half a line for instance. But it gradually increased to one, and then several lines a day and then I reached a point when I memorized three to three and a half pages of the Quran along with the translation and interpretation of the verses every day.”
Ali refers to his trust in God as well as his parents’ encouragements as the reasons behind his success in learning the Quran by heart.
He says memorizing the Quran leads to the burgeoning of one’s talents, stressing that he has a much stronger memory now.
“During the four years when I was memorizing the Quran, I learned many things and believe that even if we are not blessed to get fully acquainted with the meanings of the Quran and act upon its verses, the memorization of the verses itself will bring spiritual blessings into our lives.”
Ali who now reads the entire Quran once every week, is currently studying Quran interpretation lessons.
