Imam Khomeini Walked on God’s Path Only: Iranian Speaker

TEHRAN (IQNA) – Imam Khomeini (RA), talked only for God and walked only on the path of God, Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said.

He made the remark at a ceremony held Wednesday at the mausoleum of Imam Khomeini on the anniversary of the day when the founder of the Islamic Republic returned to Iran from exile in 1979.

Ghalibaf said that at a time when materialism, Communism and imperialism had dominated the world, Imam Khomeini began his uprising with a strong faith and with reliance on the people, managing to free the nation from tyranny.

Imam Khomeini challenged the arrogant powers and brought the spirit of unity to Islamic societies, he added.

He said Imam Khomeini insisted on defending the oppressed people in the world and moved on this path.

The parliament speaker also said that independence, freedom and justice have been the objectives of the Islamic Revolution of Iran and the country is moving toward fulfilling them.

He further said popularity is among the criteria of the Islamic Revolution, adding that it would have no meaning without the presence of the people.

Various programs were held across Iran today to commemorate the 44th anniversary of the return from exile of Imam Khomeini (RA).

At 9:33, school bells rang to mark the anniversary of the glorious event.

Here in Tehran, there was a motorcade from Mehrabad Airport to the Behesht Zahra (SA) Cemetery and flowers were thrown onto the whole path.

The day of Imam Khomeini’s return to Iran marks the beginning of the Ten-Day Fajr (dawn), which culminates with rallies on the anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution on February 11.

Millions of Iranians across the country observe ten days of celebrations in February every year marking the anniversary of the victory of the revolution that put an end to the monarchy of the US-backed Pahlavi regime in the country.

The Iranian nation toppled the US-backed Pahlavi regime 44 years ago, ending the 2,500 years of monarchic rule in the country.

The Islamic Revolution spearheaded by the late Imam Khomeini established a new political system based on Islamic values and democracy.
