Mauritania Ministry Issues Warning After Quran Published without License

TEHRAN (IQNA) – Mauritania’s Ministry of Islamic Affairs criticized publication of a copy of the Holy Quran without obtaining the necessary license.

The ministry said in a statement that the move violates the laws for publishing the Holy Book, al-Waim website reported.

It added that violation of the laws may result in legal action against publishers.  

Any publication of the Holy Quran requires obtaining a license from the ministry, it noted.

The statement came after a publisher in the African country published a copy under the name of “Mus’haf of Mauritania”.

The Islamic Republic of Mauritania is a country in the Maghreb region of western North Africa.

The country’s population is estimated to be about 4 million and virtually all Mauritanians are Muslims.

Quranic activities and programs are very popular in the African country.
