Islamic Center of England Marks Imam Baqir’s (AS) Martyrdom

TEHRAN (IQNA) – A special online program in 4 languages was held by the Islamic Center of England on the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Mohammad Baqir (AS).

 

“The importance of religious knowledge in view of Imam Baqir (AS)” was the title of the program.

It was broadcast in Urdu, English, Persian and Arabic on July 27 at 7 p.m. local time.

Muhammad ibn ʿAli ibn al-Husayn ibn ʿAli ibn Abi Talib (b. 57/677 – d. 114/733) known as Imam al-Baqir (AS) and Baqir al-‘Ulum, was the fifth Shia Imam, whose period of Imamate lasted nineteen years.

Imam al-Baqir (AS) made a great scientific movement which reached its peak at the time of his son Imam al-Sadiq (AS).

During his imamate, a great step was taken towards organization of Shia thought in different fields including ethics, jurisprudence, theology, exegesis, etc. According to historical sources he was present at Battle of Karbala as a child.
