Marziyeh Alavi, who is attended the international Quran competition for women in Iran, told IQNA that it was very interesting for her to see women are so active in society, especially in the field of Quranic activities.

The competition, along with four other international Quran contests, including those for the visually-impaired, seminary students and school students, were held in Iran from Thursday, April 20 to Wednesday, April 26, on the occasion of Eid al-Mab’ath, the appointment of Muhammad (PBUH) to prophethood.

Alavi lauded Iran for managing to organize five major international Quran competitions simultaneously, stressing that the Islamic Republic has always been pioneer in the field of Quranic activities.

She also hailed the motto of the contest, namely "One Book, One Ummah (nation)”, saying Iran has proven in practice that it is leading the way in promotion of Muslim unity.

Elsewhere, she referred to her own Quranic journey, saying she started learning the Holy Book by heart at the age of 14.

Alavi said she took courses at the Jameat-ol-Quran center in Herat and managed to memorize the entire Quran in three years.

She went on to say that she intends to follow up on her Quranic activities and study Quranic sciences to become a Quran interpreter.
