Over 19000 books have been catalogued in Ayatollah Khoei Library, including some 3000 lithographic printed books as well as 450 precious manuscripts.
This is according to Sayyed Kadhim Maddadi Al-Mousawi, director of the library, who also told IQNA that in 1978, the same year when Ayatollah Khoei seminary school was inaugurated, the library was also launched in an area of 2000 square meters.
“The library was run in the old way until 1991 when, due to the growing number of books and the large number of visitors, it was removed to the current location.”
He said when he was appointed as director of the library in 2008, it had a good treasury of books and many visitors, but the books had not been well organized.
“Organizing and cataloguing the books began with the help of seminary and academic centers and so far over 19000 books have been catalogued.
Al-Mousawi also noted that recently a data bank and an internet hall have been launched in the library to provide better service to the seminary students and researchers.
