Event in Kargil Commemorates Imam Khomeini (RA)
TEHRAN (IQNA) – A program was held in Kargil, India’s Jammu and Kashmir, on Sunday to commemorate Imam Khomeini (RA), the late founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Titled “Imam and People”, it was attended by a large number of the devotees of Imam Khomeini.
Speakers at the program highlighted the Iranian people’s resistance against the global arrogance and underlined the need to continue the path of Imam Khomeini.
It came a few days after the 30th anniversary of the Imam’s passing.
Ayatollah Ruhollah Mousavi Khomeini, better known as Imam Khomeini, engineered Iran’s 1979 Islamic Revolution, which led to the overthrow of the US-backed Shah of Iran.
Imam Khomeini passed away on June 3, 1989, at the age of 87.
