According to the official announcement, Malaysia’s representative bagged the top prize in the category of Quran recitation.
Iran’s representative Mehdi Gholamnejad came second and the Qari from Morocco won the third rank.
Mohammad Javad Delfani who represented Iran in the category of memorization of the entire Quran failed to win any ranks in this category.
The closing ceremony of the international Quranic event is slated to be held in the Kuwaiti capital on Wednesday.
Kuwait’s 9th international Quran contest, known as the Kuwait Award, kicked off in the Arab country’s capital on April 10.
As many as 130 Quran reciters and memorizers from 79 countries took part in the contest.
