Tehran Terror Attacks Martyrs Commemorated

Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani, a number of lawmakers, ministers of intelligence and culture, and families of the martyrs attended the event, which was held at the Iranian parliament’s prayer hall.

It began with recitation of verses from the Holy Quran by Qari Imani, followed by elegy recitation by Nikhbakhtian.

Next, Hojat-ol-Islam Hassan Norouzi, representative of Robat Karim in the parliament, in a speech elaborated on different aspects of the two terrorist attacks carried out by the Daesh terror group in the holy month of Ramadan, and hailed the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) for taking revenge by hitting Daesh positions and killing tens of the terrorists in Syria.

On June 7, five Daesh terrorists launched simultaneous attacks on Iran’s parliament building in downtown Tehran and on the mausoleum of Imam Khomeini, south of the city.

The assailants attacked the parliament buildings in the morning. Equipped with AK-47 assault rifles, handguns, grenades and suicide vests, the gunmen killed security guards and ordinary people before holding people hostage in the upper floors of the building.

They were all killed by the security fores after an operation that took several hours.

In the other attack at the shrine of Imam Khomeini, one suicide bomber blew himself up while the second one was killed in an exchange of gunfire.

17 people, including former IQNA chief Hojat-ol-Islam Seyed Mehdi Taqavi, were martyred and more than 40 others were wounded in the attacks.

In response to the acts of terrorism, the IRGC fired six medium-range ballistic missiles at Daesh targets in Syria’s eastern Deir al-Zur province.

The missiles were the first launched from Iran at targets outside the country.

The IRGC has said the missiles killed more than 170 Daesh Takfiri terrorists, including a number of commanders and senior elements, and inflicted heavy damage on their equipment and systems.
