Seminary Students Int’l Quran Contest Slated for April 21

Representatives of some 30 countries will compete in the three categories of the Quranic event, namely recitation and memorization of the Holy Quran and paper writing.

It will be organized by Iran’s Islamic Seminaries Department in cooperation with the country’s Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization.

Last week, Hojat-ol-Islam Seyed Mojtaba Razavi, the head of the Quran and Etrat Office of the Islamic Seminaries Department, told IQNA that a committee has been formed by different Quranic bodies of the country to draft the regulations for holding the Quranic event.

According to the official, Al Mustafa International University will arrange the participation of foreign Quran reciters.

The Islamic Seminaries Department, meanwhile, is tasked with selection of Iran’s representatives.

Hence, he said, a qualifying contest is planned to be held in Qom on March 8-9 where a Qari and a Quran memorizer will be selected to compete for the country in the upcoming international event.
