Thirty Countries Expected to Attend Int’l Quran Contest for Seminary Students

TEHRAN (IQNA) – The first edition of an international Quran competition for Islamic seminary students will be held in the Iranian holy city of Qom in May, an official said.

Hojat-ol-Islam Seyed Mojtaba Razavi, the head of the Quran and Etrat Office of the Islamic Seminaries Department, told IQNA that representatives of 30 countries will likely take part in the contest.

He said a committee has been formed by different Quranic bodies of the country to draft the regulations for holding the Quranic event.

According to the official, Al Mustafa International University will arrange the participation of foreign Quran reciters.

Iran’s Islamic Seminaries Department, meanwhile, is tasked with selection of the country’s representatives.

Hence, he said, a qualifying contest is planned to be held in Qom on March 8-9 where a Qari and a Quran memorizer will be selected to compete for the country in the upcoming international event.
