Iranian and expatriate students of Al-Mustafa International University will observe I’tikaf (religious retreat) at the holy shrine of Imam Reza (AS) in Mashhad.
The university’s cultural-educational deputy Hojat-ol-Islam Gholam Hossein Assarzadeh in a press conference said that a number of the university’s scholars and instructors will also attend the I’tikaf ceremony.
He said it is the 9th consecutive year that the university’s Mashhad branch holds the ceremony.
Since the Holy Prophet (PBUH) observed I’tikaf in the last ten days of the holy month of Ramadan, it was decided that this I’tikaf ceremony be held as a plan for “Reviving Seerah Nabawi”.
Hojat-ol-Islam Assarzadeh hoped that the participating students and instructors will make the most of the spiritual event.
He said different Quran and Etrat (AS) programs including Quran recitation, religious speeches and book reading will be held during the I’tikaf.
The cleric also said that the first day of I’tikaf will be Friday, August 2, concurrent with the International Quds Day.
According to the official, 800 Iranian and expatriate seminarians will be attending the I’tikaf in Mashhad this year, where as the number of participants last year was 550.
He added that the I’tikaf ceremony is jointly head by Al-Mustafa University’s Mashhad branch and the Khorasan Seminary.
