Speaking to IQNA, Mohammad Bagheri Banabi said the course should help seminary students get more familiar with how to promote religion in the cyberspace.
People from all walks of life are now using the cyberspace besides traditional tools to spread the religion, he said.
Banabi noted that traditional approaches have not lost their efficiency and have their own function but many use the cyberspace for propagation due to its special features.
The lawmaker also called for encouraging committed seminarians and university students to join the cyberspace, boost religious blogs, websites and news agencies to work effectively to promote the religion.
He said propagation of religion in the cyberspace is not specific to certain internet users, but it is a common duty to run blogs and websites to remove doubts (about the religion) raised in the society.
Bagheri Banabi said the traditional management of seminaries is one of the reasons for poor presence of seminarians in the cyberspace, whereas seminaries should be run in such a way so as to set the stage for the students to join the cyberspace.
He reiterated that any internet user who seeks to defend Islam and Shi’ism should join the cyberspace and work for religious propagation.
